CHURCH STREET

The Before photograph was taken prior to 1905. The flags may be for the death of Queen Victoria in 1901. In the distance can be seen the gable end of a building with the remains of two fireplaces in the wall. This suggests that an adjoining building has been knocked down. It would have stood in the area walled off at the old railway embankment. Even the 1856 map does not show any buildings at that location. This building itself was knocked down to make way for the railway in 1905.
