PB the Cairn
Lochwinnoch
The purpose of the site is to help those new to the village to connect with its past and for those who have left for pastures new to remember what was left behind

Burnfoot 3 April 1965
Looking south towards Burnfoot Cottage which can be seen in the distance.

Burnfoot
Looking in the same direction as the previous photograph but taken in 2017. The large mill buildings on either side of the road have been cleared away. Where there once was gainful employment now there is a car park.

Burnfoot 2 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. This is a view of the rear of the building marked 2 on the 1911 map. It stands where the golf club clubhouse now stands - see next photograph for Golf Club Clubhouse

Last Remaining Burnfoot Mill Building 1975
The last mill building standing (marked 3 in the maps gallery) takes centre stage in this 1975 photograph. Other changes to todays outlook are the small "starters" hut on the left is long gone and a large extension has been added to the left of the new golf clubhouse. Also, four small saplings have just been planted between the 2nd and 18th greens. Not so small now.

Burnfoot Mill
This is the building identified as 3 in the maps gallery. This photograph is courtesy of Canmore and was taken in 1965. This was the last of the large buildings in this complex to be knocked down. The previous photograph taken in 1975 shows it still standing.

Burnfoot 8 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. A shot looking straight down between the mill buildings towards the golf course. The building directly ahead still stands today and is used by the golf course for storage. It is one of three that were present in 1856 making it at least 168 years old.

Burnfoot 2017
This photograph was taken from roughly the same position as the last one but 52 years later in 2017.

Burnfoot 12 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. This time the view is looking north and the porch of Burnfoot Cottage can be seen on the right.

Burnfoot 5 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. This photograph is looking in the same direction as the previous one but was taken much closer to the buildings. On the right hand side just before the building can be seen the iron railings of the bridge that crosses the outflow from the Garpel dam as it flows towards the Calder

Burnfoot 6 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. This photograph was taken the same distance from the buildings as the previous photograph and is looking in the same direction but was taken from the other side of the road.

Burnfoot 4 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. It is a view taken from within the site and shows the back of the original bleach works which latterly became the home of J&R McKinlay's block printing works.

Burnfoot 11 April 1965
Again this photograph is courtesy of Canmore and shot in 1965. It is a view taken from within the site and shows the back of the original bleach works taken from the opposite end of the building to the previous photograph.
