The village was a little group of houses around a Kirk. It became possibly the first purpose designed town in the UK. In the galleries below is a photographic record of the village from late 1800's to more recent times. I have tried to date most of the photographs. We would welcome more so that we can have the most complete online set of picture of the village for everyone to enjoy, to bring back memories and maybe also share a memory.
