Just as man is replaced by machine horse is replaced by lorry. The wheel of progress, ever forward, bigger, better, stronger. Its hard to imagine how rapid progress was at the turn of the twentieth century. At the start horses were still an import source of transport. By the time I was born 55 years later they were completely replaced by motive power.
